Fall Ball

This Season (2024) SVLL is offering Fall Ball to players beginning at League Age 7.   In the past Fall Ball was only offerered once players were League Age 8.   Due to high demand and a transition to Rapid Baseball/Softball for the younger Division, we are extending the age to 7's.

The Fall League will be hosted by SVLL but is open to nearby leagues.   This season Fall Ball will from Monday 8/19 to Sunday 10/27.   Teams typically play games against our own league and sometimes against other leagues on Sundays.  Teams will also have one dedicated practice day each week.

The Fall Ball season is instructional in nature with emphasis on developing fundamentals and playing a variety of positions. Many of our Fall Ball players participate in other sports at the same time (soccer, football, etc.).  We do collect conflict days during registration, so we can place players on a team that has a practice day that does not conflict with there other activities.

Baseball Divisions of Play

- League Ages 7 to 9
This season we will be playing a form of Rapid Baseball.
-   A pitching machine or dedicated adult pitcher will be used
-   Innings will be timed to provide more at-bats and defensive plays each inning
- Example:  A team will bat for a continuous 15 minutes.   Bases will be cleared after 3 outs, but the team continues batting.
- This is a newer method of playing baseball for younger players to get more game reps

- League Ages 10 to 12
- Teams will play with standard player pitch rules

Softball Divisions of Play

- League Ages 7 to 9
-   This season we will be playing a form of Rapid Softball.
-   A dedicated adult pitcher will be used
-   Innings will be timed to provide more at-bats and defensive plays each inning
- Example:  A team will bat for a continuous 15 minutes.   Bases will be cleared after 3 outs, but the team continues batting.
- This is a newer method of playing Softball for younger players to get more game reps

- League Ages 9 to 11
- Teams will play with Standard Coast Softball Rules
- Teams will play against other Leagues in our District
- In the past Kirkland and Bellevue have had teams.

League Age 9 players have the option to play either Rapid Softball or Coast Rules Softball.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost to play Fall Ball?

Fall Ball fees will be $220 for the 2024 Season.

When does Fall Ball registration end?

Registration for Fall Ball is open until July 27th, 2024.

Can other Leagues register for the Fall Ball season hosted by SVLL?

Nearby leagues are welcome to enroll for the Fall Ball Season..  Leagues that have participated in the past have included: Falls, Valley, Eastlake, Sammamish, and Issaquah.  During registration nearby leagues will see a warning that they are out of the SVLL Boundary.   This is OK for Fall Ball and this message can be skipped past.

Are there play together requests for Fall Ball?

Similar to Upper Division Spring Baseball and Softball we do not capture, or honor play together requests for Fall Ball.   We do try to place players from a similar League on the same teams, so that players have a better chance of playing with other players they may know.   The reason we do not have play together requests is because we need to ensure that the teams are well balanced and competitive.   This means ensuring we have an even distribution of ages, skill level, and key positions on each team.

What are the season dates for Fall Ball?

The season Fall Ball starts the week of Monday 8/19.   The final game will be on Sunday 10/27.    There will be no game scheduled for Sunday 9/1 due to the Labor Day Weekend.   We are starting the season a little earlier this season to get an extra game scheduled.   In the past we have started the week of 9/1.

What teams will SVLL play against?

Fall Ball opponents vary from year to year by division.   We normally have enough Baseball teams to compete only within our own league.   For Softball games may be scheduled with other Leagues for the Coast Division.  Last season Kirkland and Bellevue had teams.

What time of day will the games start on Sunday?

The start times vary but typically morning games start at 10 am and afternoon games at 1 pm. A finalized game/opponent schedule will be announced as the start of Fall Ball approaches.

What team will my son/daughter be playing on?

Teams will be formed by 9/1 - we strive to have evenly matched teams.

What will the players be wearing for uniforms?

SVLL will provide a uniform jersey and hat for each player. Families will need to provide pants, belt and socks. Your team manager will have more information at the start of the season.

When will practices be held?

Managers typically hold 1 dedicated practice at Torguson Park in North Bend.   We capture conflict days during registration to place players on teams with a practice day they will be able to attend.

My child is playing different positions than what he/she has been played before. Why is that?

Fall Ball is instructional in nature and we look to expose our players to a range of positions throughout the season. This variety will provide an opportunity for all players to get experience at a multitude of positions as they develop their game.

Is coaching help needed?

Yes! Please see our Volunteer Opportunities page if you are interested in helping manage or assist with coaching. Please direct any issues or questions regarding volunteering to [email protected]

What activities other than coaching can parents do to help?

SVLL is dependent on parent volunteers! There is always a need for volunteers to assist with field prep, umpiring, score keeping, dugout cleanup, etc. All of these jobs are necessary to run a successful season and managers cannot do it alone. Please jump in and take an active role in your child's season!

My child is younger than league age 8? Are there any other options for baseball during the summer/fall time frame?

League age 7 players are being incorporated for the 2024 Fall season.   This is because the 7 to 9 year old division will be playing Rapid Baseball/Softball.   This incorporates a dedicated adult pitcher or pitching machine with timed innings.   For example a team will bat for 15 minutes.  Bases are cleared after three outs, but the same team keeps batting until the 15 minutes expires.   Rapid Baseball/Softball provides more good pitches to hit, more at-bats, and defensive players during a game.

There are various camps and other leagues available for ages 6 and below. Some leagues to check out are:
