SVLL UMPIRE INFORMATION

IT IS TIME!: You might not have guessed by looking out the window, but Spring is just around the corner. It's time to dust off those masks and shin guards and start thinking about umpiring some softball and baseball again. The following is a detailed list of all upcoming training. If you have any questions, please direct them to UIC Terry Granillo.

NOTE: Items in RED are repeat opportunities for basic courses. Offered for 101 & 102, and both half-day field training courses. Snoqualmie Valley Little League highly recommends you attend training at District 9. It's free, and because they can devote more time it is much more thorough training. You will enjoy umpiring more if you have a good grasp of the rules. Our local training will give you the basics, but the more you can get in before that first pitch, the better off you'll be the first time that manager comes out of the dugout with a perplexed look on his face!

MANAGERS' RESPONSIBILITY TO SECURE UMPIRES:

  • The HOME TEAM provides two umpires for all games.
  • All games will be published in the District 9 Arbiter for registered umpires to self-assign.
  • Don't rely on Arbiter sight unseen. Check it, and if your slots are open 48 hours prior to game time, get on the phone and find umpires.
  • The umpires decide which position to take for each game; it is not fixed based on who's home!
  • Beginning this year, the 18+ umpire rule has changed, allowing an adult administrator to be outside the fence. MAKE SURE THIS PERSON ACTS AS AN IMPARTIAL GAME OFFICIAL.
  • See Coaches Corner for full detail.
